The England team has tied a black band around their arms during the Chennai Test. This is in relation to his war Veteran Captain Sir Tom Moore, who died earlier this week at the age of 100.
Captain Tom Moore died on Tuesday. The news of his death was announced on his Twitter account.
Captain Moore had a great influence on England and the English cricket fraternity became completely emotional during this time. Speaking in this regard, Joe Root said in a video- "This is really sad news, got a chance to talk to him early last year. I am sure his family would be extremely proud of his legacy.". Somebody gave the country a chance to smile even in difficulties."
He said, "He spoke fondly about the game of cricket throughout his life. He will always be remembered by the entire cricket community."
Captain Moore was a British World War II veteran and had set a goal of raising 1 thousand British pounds for the National Health Service but it raised up to 30 million British pounds and thus Captain Moore broke two Guinness World Records and He also received a knighthood from Queen Elizabeth.
Talking of cricket now, the first match has started in Chennai and England openers Sibley and Burns have given a solid start to their team. International cricket has returned to India after a gap of more than 11 months due to a coronavirus epidemic in the first Test of a four-match series. Root is playing his 100th Test for his country while Jose Butler is playing his 50th Test.
